Sarah Agbiji (Makeup Artist)
Sarah Agbiji

I’d like to introduce myself as ModernWand. I am A creator at heart, a makeup artist and afro hairstylist in the UK. I grew up being a generally nerdy kid, who had a love for reading, drawing anime characters and painting portraits of my friends. It wasn’t until I was a teenager that I fell in love with a different way of using a brush. It was mostly through the influence of YouTube that I discovered makeup. I simply could not resist this aesthetically driven form of art and it soon became something I enjoyed doing regularly.

I started to embark on perfecting my makeup skills, on myself and quite frequently on others too. The versatility and adaptability of aesthetic or abstract characters were some of the many facets of makeup that was endearing to me. I thoroughly loved that I could utilise makeup to execute a purpose, a role, or even a message.

Despite my heart belonging to art, I never imagined I would pursue a career in makeup. I loved my hobby; it was my genuine passion and I thought that was enough at the time. I decided that the self-expression and joy that makeup gives me is my right to life. I decided to cast away all fears and excuses that had held me back and chase after what I truly wanted in life. I had finally discovered my purpose, my gift and I planned to share it with the world.
