About United Makeup Artists Expo
Education

United Makeup Artists’ expo (UMAe) is an established Trade Show brought to the UK & International scene by a UK based family run company.

UMAe teams up with the Hollywood elite to deliver a Make-up Artists’ expo with a different ethos than being purely product driven – ‘ that bit more than just a Trade Show’. In May 2016, the expo moves its exhibits to the new venue of the Novotel Convention Centre, Hammersmith, London where professional and aspiring make-up artists and hair / wig dressers alike can rub shoulders with industry icons, not only for that ‘once in a lifetime’ photo opportunity but also to personally ask for and receive advice directly from these industry gurus.

UMAe provides fascinating educational seminars and a much loved ‘hands on’ workshop where make-up artists (MUAs) are able to experience new techniques and products for themselves. Exhibitors enjoy the opportunity to launch new products, discuss their application, demonstrate their practical aspects fully at their booths and talk to professional make-up artists about their needs, requirements and concerns; heralding further research and development into potential new areas. Live demonstrations draw crowds of fascinated onlookers keen to see what and how these amazing effects are achieved. MUAs and Hairdressers interact with the Demonstrators, creating a learning experience both serious and fun for all concerned, and are then able to purchase exactly the products needed for their line of work. Delegates are thrilled to watch and question the techniques and secrets of the film industry.

UMAe is teamed with NASMAH, the UK association for professional make-up artists and hairdressers who work in the film, television, theatre, fashion and photographic medium, and together also aim to raise awareness of the importance of the role of hairdressers and their intertwined role with MUAs.

On hand to offer advice on employment and contract issues are BECTU, the UK’s media and entertainment trade union.
