Run and organised by Habia the government approved standards setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa, that creates the standards that form the basis of these qualifications.

Summary of competition categories.
Competition 1 – ‘Habia’ Classical Bridal Hair and Makeup
10.30am, 90 minutes, Close 12.00 noon, Judged 12.15pm - 12.30pm
1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize

Competition 2 - ‘Habia’ Elizabethan Period Makeup (hair to be incorporated prior to judgement)
10.30am, 45 minutes, Close 11.15am, Judged 11.30am - 11.45pm

Competition 3 - ‘Habia’ Face and Body art including prosthetics (Theme – Extra Terrestrial)
12.30am, 90 minutes, Close 2pm, Judged 2.15pm - 2.30pm

- To register: please go to https://portal.umae.co.uk/register, here you can buy your UMAe entry ticket and Competition entry combined, please select Competition 1, 2 and/or 3. Competition entries will be an additional £10. Refunds are not available.
- Students must be recommended by a tutor.
- Students will be asked to provide evidence that they have enrolled on a Hair and/or Media Makeup programme within the last 12 months to enter the competition.
- Habia will email your individual confirmation of entry, whereby you must check you are registered on the correct Competition and are aware of the start times.
- Models must be 16 years or over and will be provided with a ‘Model pass’ on arrival, Sunday 5th May.
- Competition entrants and models must arrive and ballot within the time frames specified, to enter into the competition.
- Competition space: table and one chair, you may wish to bring a portable Makeup high chair, space permitting.
- Competition entrants must ensure they follow strict Health and Safety regulations including the use of PPE.
- Models must be void of Makeup, semi-permanent Makeup and artificial lashes.
- Models are allowed nail extensions that may compliment the overall design if applicable.
- Models can be already in costume, but must be protected with PPE (Cape).
- Please consider the wellbeing of your model for the full allocated time frames.
- Mood boards should be no larger than A3.
- Please ensure you are prepared with all products, materials, tools and protective towels/bed roll for the work top.
- All rubbish must be disposed of in a sealed container/bag.
- Please ensure all models if not fully clothed, wear appropriate modesty covers.
- Please note, there will be no smoking, eating or drinking in the competition or preparatory areas. Water is permitted.
- Mobile phones are not permitted to be used in the Competition area.
- Failure to follow competition rules and guidelines will result in disqualification.
- Photographs will be taken on the Competition floor. Habia and UMAe reserve the right for promotion and future publication.

This category is about creating a Bridal Hair and Makeup. The classical bridal look that will be judged on your application of Makeup to enhance the subject’s natural features and Hair design that demonstrates new trends, style and articulation.

Competition 2 – ‘Habia’ Elizabethan Period Makeup (45 minutes) Registration and Balloting: 9.30 – 10.15 |

This category is about creating an Elizabethan Makeup, the cosmetics worn by women during the time of Queen Elizabeth differed hugely from those we wear today. You will be judged on your knowledge, understanding and articulation of the Makeup application and overall presentation.

Competition 3 – ‘Habia’ Extra Terrestrial Face and Body art including prosthetics (90 minutes) Registration and Balloting: 11.45 – 12.15 |

This category is about creating an ‘Extra Terrestrial’ look on the Face, neck and shoulders. You will be judged on safe and effective application of prosthetic appliances, makeup application and design linked with the theme.
Please note: only the face, neck and shoulders will be technically judged. Available to Level 3 and above graduates only

Please notify a Competition Official will be available for advice on Competition day for any enquiries. Failure to follow Makeup Competition rules and guidelines may result in disqualification from the competition.
